Aged Care Lifestyle Program

Over the past few years I have been doing the most amazing job, playing my guitar and singing to the residents of Aged-care facilities and Hospitals in South East Queensland and Sydney, and "I Love It".
The smiles on their faces when they remember a song and then join me in singing along, it is priceless.
Programs generally run for 90 minutes and special occasions can be catered for.
I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to give something back into the lives of the elderly.

What style of music do you perform Greg?
I do music from the 1900’s through to 1980’s anything from Pack Up Your Troubles to A Pub With No Beer. A lot of my playlist contains songs that have been requested from residents themselves.
Vera Lynn, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Credence Clearwater Revival and Johnny Cash, songs that the residents can sing-a-long to and that they can connect to in some way.
Styles include swing, country, country rock, gospel, blues etc
How do you involve residents in your program?
If I haven’t come away with a new song to play then I haven’t connected with the residents, I find that they love it when you go to the effort of learning and singing a song that they love just for them.
I love to throw in a little trivia and get the residents involved by asking them questions about the songs and what they mean to people, the era they come from; do you remember the movie that one was from? Who sang that one? Encouraging residents to think outside the square plus they love to catch me out if I have it wrong (and I love that too).
How long is a performance?
My program takes from 60 to 90 minutes dependent on attention spans and medical conditions and the requirements of your centres lifestyle program needs. Generally the program runs from 10 to 11:30am, 1:30 to 3:00pm or 3:00 to 4:30pm.
Any specialty programs available?
The sundowner program designed for high care residents who find that time of the day distressing. This program consists of settling music that residents feel comfortable can include nursery rhymes, waltzes, jingles, children’s songs designed to settle and calm residents. This usually takes place during the news and as the light is changing.
Happy hour programs are run from 5:30 to 7:00pm consisting of dance songs, fun music setting a party mood for residents.
Special events such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Anzac Day, Memorial Services, Hymn singing, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, high teas etc.
I am happy to work with you and your team, or other performers to create a unique event that suits your program and resident’s needs. By all means ask and I will see what we can come up with together.
What is your fee?
My hourly rate is $100. A normal program of 90 minutes is $150.
